AI, digital health platforms, and new medical technologies are transforming healthcare – from diagnostics and treatment planning to patient monitoring and care delivery. They also reshape organizational practices, such as management processes or documentation systems supporting employees. These innovations can disrupt healthcare ecosystems and raise ethical questions around equity, privacy, sustainability, and fair distribution of resources. They also influence societal expectations of healthy aging and longevity.
Given the interdependence of economic, ecological, and societal goals, responsible healthcare innovation requires integrating societal values and addressing ethical, social, and environmental implications. The challenge is especially acute for aging populations, where innovations affect autonomy, quality of life, and raise questions about intergenerational justice.
We invite submissions that examine how healthcare innovation can be designed, governed, and implemented responsibly – especially those addressing tensions, trade-offs, and synergies across the economic, ecological, and societal imperatives shaping innovation practices.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
- Innovation ethics: moral implications of healthcare technologies in aging communities
- Tensions and controversies: navigating conflicting goals in healthcare innovation
- Digital responsibility: ethical use of data, AI, and platforms in healthcare contexts
- Stakeholder engagement: co-innovation among patients, professionals, employees, and policymakers
- Societal transformation: equity, cultural change, and longevity
We welcome conceptual and empirical contributions, including interdisciplinary studies offering new insights or approaches to responsible healthcare innovation.
Submissions in other topics that tackle these questions are also welcome.
