Quantum simulation offers new ways to address challenges in quantum chemistry, complex material design, drug discovery and other domains where classical approaches reach their limits. Despite significant advances, a crucial question remains: how close are we to achieving real-world impact that benefits industry and society? We invite contributions that address this gap by tackling key questions:
- What metrics should be used to define practical relevance and success?
- How can algorithmic advances, benchmarking strategies, and hardware progress overcome current bottlenecks?
- What role do error mitigation techniques and hybrid classical-quantum approaches play in advancing practical applications?
- How can collaborations between academia and industry be strengthened to accelerate the translation of quantum simulation from theory to impactful solutions?
We welcome works that critically assess current capabilities, present case studies, and propose pathways to make quantum simulation a transformative tool for science, industry, and society.
