Changing Demographics and Health

Social cohesion – at the levels of family, neighborhood, community, region, and society – is increasingly recognized as a crucial factor in transforming the challenges posed by diversity and health inequalities into opportunities for positive change. It encompasses solidarity, social connections, a sense of belonging, and a shared commitment to the common good.
We invite submissions that explore the complex interplay between social cohesion, shifting population demographics, evolving family structures, and health disparities. As populations age and become more diverse, changes in family compositions and social networks play a critical role in shaping health outcomes and inequalities worldwide.
This call seeks innovative research that investigates how demographic transformations influence social cohesion and, in turn, affect health trajectories and disparities. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- The impact of demographic shifts on family and community support systems
- The role of social cohesion in promoting health equity and well-being
- How changing family structures affects the management of chronic illness and care dependency
- The effects of changing family structures on the management of chronic illness and care dependency
- Emerging health disparities related to social and demographic changes
- Policy and intervention strategies aimed at reducing health inequalities in evolving demographic contexts
We welcome interdisciplinary studies employing quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods that deepen our understanding of these complex relationships. Contributions offering new theoretical insights or practical approaches to addressing health disparities amid demographic change are especially encouraged.
