Prof. Dr. Maja Göpel

Maja Göpel works at the crossroads of science, politics, and civil society, bringing together questions of environmental sustainability, social justice, and participation. She has collaborated with grassroots movements as well as international institutions, always aiming to connect bold ideas with practical change.

As a founding Councillor of the World Future Council, she advocates for the rights of future generations and helps to develop pioneering policy solutions, such as the Future Policy Award. She has also led the Berlin Office of the Wuppertal Institute, where her work focuses on systemic change, ethics, and education for the 21st century.

Her engagement includes serving as Secretary-General of the German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU), co-founding Scientists4Future, and building the Science-Society Network Mission Wertvoll. As the author of Unsere Welt neu denken (2020), Wir können auch anders (2022), and Werte (2025), she inspires wide audiences to rethink sustainability, values, and our shared future.
