Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin

Prof. Dr. Tobias Sauter is Professor of Climate Geography at Humboldt University Berlin and a leading expert on Earth system change. His research focuses on how climate extremes, land-use change, and human–environment dynamics disrupt the systems underpinning planetary health. He heads the Climate Research Lab, serves as speaker of the Einstein Research Unit Climate and Water under Change (CliWaC) of the Berlin University Alliance, and leads the Mountain Exchange Processes group in the international program TeamX. Sauter has conducted fieldwork in the Alps, Himalayas, Andes, Central Asia, the Arctic, and Antarctica, advancing knowledge on regions most vulnerable to warming and hydrological disruption. Recognized with the German Dissertation Prize in 2012, he has published over 50 articles and is committed to fostering the next generation of climate researchers and building bridges between science, policy, and society.
