Prof. Dr. Uwe Ulbrich

Uwe Ulbrich has been Professor of Meteorology at Freie Universität Berlin since 2004, leading a research group on climate diagnostics and meteorological extremes. From 2019 to 2023, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Geosciences. His research addresses the physical understanding of extreme events, their links to atmospheric variability and climate change, climate model validation, and climate impacts. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and several book chapters, and has convened symposia at the European Geosciences Union. He led the evaluation section of the German program on decadal predictions, currently coordinates a national program on Meteorological Extremes and their Impacts, and co-chairs the project Climate and Water under Change on water challenges in the Berlin-Brandenburg area.
