Sustainable Water Strategies for Resilient Futures
Prof. Dr. Tobias Krüger
Global Environmental Change | Humboldt Universität zu Berlin
Resilient water futures will benefit from long-term thinking across sectors and governance levels without losing sight of short-term issues and conflicts. Sustainable water strategies are likely those that prove adaptive and participatory in that they are being developed together with public, private and civil society actors, harnessing the innovation potential at all societal levels. As well as exploring synergies with other policies and practices, we must attend to trade-offs and possible side-effects of water-related interventions across spatial, temporal and institutional scales.
In this session, we invite contributions on innovations and/or critical engagements with, for example:
- Water governance
- Nature-based solutions, e.g. sponge city approaches
- Adaptative management
- Decision support systems
- Participatory research and management
- Policy synergies and trade-offs across scales
- Contested futures, e.g. resilience for whom
